SERMON FOCUS: True Worship, The Identity of Christ, The Widow's Mite, Sacrificial Giving, Private Surrender
Sermon Highlights:
The Rhythm of Prayer:
• Morning Prayer – Thank God for a new day and ask for guidance and strength.
• Afternoon Prayer – Pause to turn your heart back to Jesus and release stress.
• Before Bed Prayer – Place your worries and family into God's care for peaceful rest.
In order for our Worship to be right before God, we have to know:
• The Worthy Messiah (v.35–37) – Jesus is not just David's human descendant; He is David's Divine Lord. We cannot reduce Jesus to a useful political tool or a self-help guru—we must bow to Him as sovereign God.
• Establishes His Authority (Colossians 1:15–17; Hebrews 1:3)
• Shifts Our Perspective on Surrender
• Cures Our Need for Human Applause (Proverbs 29:25; Galatians 1:10)
• The Wrong Motivation (v.38–40) – The scribes loved public recognition and devoured widows' houses. Their "god" was their own reputation. A low view of Jesus produces false worship.
• Matthew 6:1–4; Matthew 7:22–23; Isaiah 29:13
• The Widow's Mite (v.41–44) – She gave everything because she knew the value of the God she was serving.
• Philippians 3:8 – "I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord."
Key Quote:
"God measures sacrifice not by the size of the gift, but by the cost to the giver."
Closing Question:
The King gave everything for you. Will you give everything to Him?
